Race Report

The conditions on the day were very good; dry, mild and only a slight breeze. Some of the minor problems with marshaling and finish recording from last year were much improved this year. The water station at the end of the first lap was also moved so that runners could see it as they came into the school. This hopefully gave them plenty of time to think about getting into position to take a drink as they left the school to start the second lap.

The results for all three races, apart from the last few in the 15, were all processed promptly and displayed. The main trophy presentation started at one o'clock, although the team results were delayed by a few minutes due to software failure. (Ok, we need a better program next year; one that includes a look ahead feature for the team race to see if runners not yet finished can affect the team results.) The results had one duplicate number recorded on the day but this has since been sorted out. The only known (possible) error at the moment is that although finishers number 56 and 57 have the same time the order may in fact have been the other way round.

All in all I think it was the best organised race we've put on in the last few years. If the event hadn't clashed with the Great North Run there may have been more entrants. Hopefully we can avoid this next year and make further improvements.
