Diss 15 & 7½ - Course Maps
|
The approximate position of mile markers are shown and the positions of the water stations.
There are only a couple of small hills. If you look at the map you will see a small stream that runs across the course between the 14 and 9 mile markers. This indicates the low point of the course. The steepest incline occurs at two miles as the route climbs towards Burston. On the return part of the course the uphill part occurs at just over 6.5 miles.
Note that the start on Heywood Road is about 600 yards from the race centre and changing facilities at the school. Make sure you leave enough time to jog or walk to the start. Once the gun goes you will run back the way you came, take a sharp left onto Walcot Road and run straight past the school entrance and out onto the main 7.5 mile loop.
At the end of the first lap you turn into the school, down the main drive, around the roundabout and into the finish.
At the end of the first lap you turn into the school drive, go round the roundabout, and then back out through the school gates to start the second lap. This gives your friends the opportunity to shout helpful words of encouragement as you reach the half way point! A water station is situated on the way out. At the end of the second lap you run into the finishing funnel after going round the roundabout.
The Fun Run has a single loop of approximately 1.25 miles. There is no footpath until you reach Heywood Road. All young children should be accompanied by an adult.
